They know the most sacred, secret and pristine places of Sedona's trails and vortexes and meet our guidelines and policies for licensure, integrity and work performance for your peace of mind.

ALL OUR MASSAGE THERAPISTS ... are fully licensed and compliant with Arizona State Laws.

MANY OF YOUR GUIDES ... will be indigenous in region and/or local cultures and tribes, and know well the local terrain.  In addition, several of Shangri-La Sedona's practitioners are fully licensed as ordained interfaith ministers.

In November 2005, the business concept was introduced to and gifted by Suzanne McMillan-McTavish, owner/operator of Sedona Heart Center and Sedona Vortex Tours. This action was a phasing out of a segment of her business - Retreats, Vision Quests and Day Packages. Suzanne gifted the intellectual material of these three segments to four women who were currently working as independent contractors through her businesses:  Deidre Madsen, Bonny Kraus, Julie Maloney and Annette (Aurora) Spuhler. The intent was to continue the vision Suzanne originally set out to offer to her clients.

This divine name came as an inspiration to Aurora Spuhler shortly after the four of us began the process of expanding our gift. Upon hearing this name, two of us wept and two of us laughed merrily - for joy and recognition. Such was the beauty and the balance of our four energies together. Our facility, on Hwy. 89A across from New Frontiers Healthfood Store, brought in many clients and soul seekers; and was subsequently dubbed the "Quirky Fairy Castle" for its cozy charm, Light vibrations and hot cup of tea always at the ready.

Many changes have occurred since our opening. We relocated from our storefront and have opened up to our practitioner's home offices and healing sanctuaries; Bonny, Jewels and Aurora all moved into separate roles in their own lives pursuing their healing arts and becoming master instructors in the interim. Deidre remained with Shangri-La Sedona holding the energy and guided it, condensing its energies into a crystalline structure that is now expanding into a new enfoldment of Light - in service to humanity.

With the invaluable help of Bonny, Jewels and Aurora, Shangri-La's beginnings were created as a beautiful and harmonious environment - one that you can still experience on the web and in the healing sanctuary of each of our practitioners. Our retreat center is at the center of each of our hearts. Shangri-La Sedona has been and continues to be blessed with their presence.

A Golden Portal Be'tween Heaven and Earth
for Seeking Souls in Sedona - a City of Light

Since Shangri-La's inception she has been gifted with wonderful paintings.  The gorgeous painting (left) for the Shangri-La Sedona Soul Spa Bath & Beauty Essentials logo is by Pamela Becker, a local artist, book illustrator and graphic designer. "Thank you, Pamela, for capturing the spirit and essence of Shangri-La; the flow and ebb of inner and outer realms, the inner sanctum, inner sanctuary of "space" within and without.  The Golden Chalice of truth and freedom within."

We have had great the honor through our dear sister and practitioner, Dr. Jewels Maloney, who shared with us a gem of a painting. We have graced our website and our sacred healing space at Shangri-La with the beautiful (right) "Return to Love"  by Orlea Rayne.  This painting deeply inspires everyone who views it's rich mandala, merkaba dynamic; flowing with gentle tendrils of Mother Earth and inspired by Nut's (Heavens) golden rays, the Mogen David star shines brightly showing the way, through the bindi, our symbolic third eye, to reach for our I AM That I AM.

Adele Sands and Daniel Maddux have graciously gifted Shangri-La with a beautiful photo from their Hawaiian dolphin journey entitled Light Wave of three beautiful dolphins, which graced our Aquamarine healing room. "Thank you Adele and Daniel!"

We are blessed with an original LaWrence Curtis painting - our beautiful Sedona Angel Heart (right, this view shows a small portion of the original); a gift from Suzanne McMillan-McTavish the founder of Sedona Heart Center, from which Shangri-La and some of our programs evolved.  As you enter At Shangri-La you will recongize our beautiful Peace Heart Angel painting welcoming you with love.  "Thank you LaWrence for adding to the beauty and essence of Shangri-La."

This charming dolphin's swimming mural danced on the the walls of our Aquamarine healing room.  The idea for our mural came from one of the earliest and best-known ornamentations of dolphins, the dolphin fresco on the wall of the Queen's bathroom in the ancient 22,000 sq. metre Palace of Knossos on the island of Crete.  The fresco was painted over 3,500 years ago by an unknown artist.  Aurora Spuhler and Deidre Madsen faithfully rendered it  onto the wall ... "with a lot of love and joy as we watched the dolphins come to life and dance before our eyes, perhaps reliving the original artist's experience as well."
